Mum’s Birthday Card

Hello

Today I have my Mum’s Birthday Card to share which I am quite ashamed to say I quickly threw together.

I die cut the vases out of some patterned paper which to me resembled old fashioned crockery, which I thought my Mum would like.

I then raided my ready-made flower collection, which I never use as I tend to make flowers now. That being the case I thought I would be lavish and use loads, so I selected various flowers in a purple theme.

Shaping the vases here is vital to create the true vase shape.

I think she liked it and I wouldn’t be surprised if she will remove each vase to feature on her own cards or scrapbook pages.

Thanks for visiting.

Crochet Flowers

Hello

I have some little crochet flowers to share today which I make using any odd scraps of yarn and cotton.  I always find them a useful thing to have as a standby for any project which may need an embellishment.  I particularly like using the paler colours as these can always be coloured using pens or inks to co-ordinate with whatever I need.  Very useful indeed.

I would like to share my top tip regarding the size of crochet hook to cotton/yarn. Obviously the size of hook is important to the weight of yarn or cotton but it’s also a nice idea to experiment with different sized hooks with the same yarn to create a mixture of sized flowers, some will turn out tight and full and others loopier, but together they will all co-ordinate.

It’s also a lovely idea to combine 2 threads together with a larger hook to create an even larger flower.

Here I have used each thread individually with a co-ordinated sized hook and combined them to create a third flower.  I think they will look stunning all used together on a project.

Mothers Day Fuschias

Hello

I totally forgot to share the other Mothers Day card I made, here it is….

WP_20150315_009

I used an old die from my stash and cut loads of little fuschias in white which I painted using watercolours.

WP_20150315_012

I used a die to create an aperture, which I then embossed and made a further frame for a neat outline.  A co-ordinated frame for a greeting and the card is finished.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Past Projects Reminder 3

Hello

I have the last of my past projects today and here it is; a card for Mum.

WP_20150111_020

My Mum loves Fuchsias and always has lots in her garden at summer.   I particularly am fond of Fuchsias as my darling German Shepherd loved them too and would always lie under them given any opportunity.

I hope you have enjoyed reviewing my old projects too, I have because it demonstrates how skills evolve and develop.

Pink Butterflies with White Flowers

Hello

I am afraid to say that I have not enjoyed the hot weather so much over the weekend and instead have hidden away in a dark cold corner to craft.  Here is my efforts…..

WP_20140519_001

I started with a dark pink print I had previously done and stamped a very lovely stamp from Hobby Art in white embossing powder.

WP_20140519_008

In the background I stamped some flowers together with some text in co-ordinating shades of pink.

WP_20140519_004

I then added some texture lines in clear embossing powder.

Finally, I diecut some Spellbinder Butterflies and added randomly.

I hope you like it.  See you again soon.

80th Birthday Card

Hello

I have an 80th Birthday Card today to share which I was commissioned to make.

WP_20140502_016

I cut various dies in co-ordinating shades of pink and made a collection of florals.

WP_20140502_017

I added a lovely background die-cut and various flourishes cut in foam.

WP_20140502_019

Obviously, as its an 80th Birthday Card I added a wire “80” behind the rose…..subtle.

Finally add a butterfly and the card is complete.

Thanks for visiting.

My Mum’s finished Mothers Day Card

Hello

I shared recently my quilled “MUM” filled with flowers and today I have the finished card.

WP_20140328_004

I have attached the quilled letters to a piece of acetate which is secured behind the backing matts, so the letters are suspended and bouncy.

WP_20140328_007

I have kept the backing quite simple; an embossed white matt to highlight the letters and co-ordinating colour matts which I have stamped randomly for added interest.

WP_20140328_006

I hope my Mum will like it on Sunday.

Thanks for visiting.
