Pink Butterflies

I really enjoyed making my ATC at the weekend in bright colours and it inspired me to continue the pink theme with some stamping.

I regularly fall back on a combination of pink and yellow but I tried to make this one bright and invigorating.

I used stamps from Chocolate Baroque and a Sizzix die.

Trick or Treat dress-up

I have a fun card to share today using some old Sizzix Original Dies.

I absolutely adore the Sizzix Body Collection of dies and wish I had more, however I thoroughly enjoy the ones I do have and enjoy getting the most out of them.

In this card, I started with 4 bodies and decided they were a group of girls all going Trick or Treating.  I then proceeded to create outfits for each.

Here is each girl individually and the dies used:

Pumpkin girl

Spellbinder label for the Pumpkin body

Sizzix cowboy boots

Spider girl

Spellbinder Octagon nestie for the body

Sizzix shoes

Ghost girl

Spellbinder label – which I positioned back in the die once cut and repeated to create the shape

Frankenstein girl

Spellbinder label cut twice for the mask

Sizzix overall die and shoes

Lastly, I cut some letters using an XCut alphabet die.

Happy Trick or Treating!

Halloween Haunted House

I have a project to share today which I thoroughly enjoyed making.

I started with a Gelli Print onto waste cardboard for the background and a further print in a different colour for the base of the picture.

I cut the Sizzix Haunted House die in 3 shades of card; black, brown and fawn. I cut sections of the paler die cut for the roof and used the black layer to create a shadow by offsetting it slightly.

I added some detail with a fine black pen to create some “brick” shapes.

I used the Sizzix Tree die on cardboard box card and cut down to create more of a branch effect.

I cut a moon shape out of some white foam and positioned behind the house and branches.

Using the XCut alphabet die, I cut Halloween and arranged and lastly, I added a collection of white ghosts using the Quickutz ghost die.

I hope you like it!

Stamping in Burgundy

Another card today featuring another myriad of stamps, including a Butterfly from Chocolate Baroque, an assortment of vintage and travel stamps and a map background stamp, all in burgundy.

I ripped the edge around the stamped images and distressed the edges with the same inkpad.

A simple matt of a co-ordinating coloured background card and some Spellbinder Bitty Blossoms and Flower Creations, together with a couple of Sizzix flourishes is all that is required to finish this card off.

Oooops. I forgot to put the centre in the Flower Creations prior to taking the photo, so it looks much more “finished” in the flesh.

See you again soon, with hopefully a “finished” card.

Pink Floral Card

I would like to share this card which is quite unusual for me.  I am not ordinarily one for using pink and especially bright pink, but I do love it when combined with black and grey, I think it makes for quite a dramatic look.

I started with the stamped panels which I used a variety of stamps, including a butterfly, flower, harlequin, flourish and a text stamp and created a background by overstamping and masking.  The background was then cut into 3 equal sections and shuffled before matting on to the pink layer on the white base card.

The crochet lace was made using a grey cotton thread and was made larger than the width of the card.  By pinning it into shape and then ironing it with starch it becomes a much more dense piece of lace which holds it shape and now fits on the card perfectly over the stamped panels.

I finished the card with an assortment of flowers which were stamped and embossed onto a piece of card I had watercoloured to co-ordinate and added some black foam flourishes using a Sizzix die for added texture and interest.

All for now.
